Green Glengarry Caps
5 Attachment(s)
I have picked up another green Glengarry or is it Glengary?
There are no markings inside, I'm not sure if that means it not an issue item? I understand they were worn by The Cameronians Scottish Rifles for many years and also some Volunteer units prior to 1908 but were they worn by any other units? This one has a single hole where a slidered badge has been fitted, which doesn't seem right for the above options? It appears to be a finer material to my other one shown in this previous thread. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=49795 All thoughts welcomed. Rob |
The HLI also wore a rifles green glengary during WWII and probaby before and since

Thanks Jerry, but HLI is another one I haven't seen slidered.
Any other possibilities anyone? Rob |
How about HLI of Canada? They had slidered badges.

Hi Rob,
Attached is my Cameronians Glengarry, I know a dealer who has a couple of genuine albeit slightly smaller badges to mine shown for the Cameronians with sliders which similar may have been wore in your example. Paul |

I have also had another look inside and there are some faint white marks where the markings should be so it probably is an issue hat. Rob |
Hi Rob,
The toorie is black, I will see if I can get some images of the badges with sliders sent to me, it will probably be Thursday or after. Paul |

Thanks Paul, that seems to prove it, I wonder what era those badges are from.

I have decided to put this hat up for sale as it doesn't fit in with my Devon collection, please see separate thread in the classified section.
