Bangor UOTC or RA TF?
 

Hi believe from background the this badge is Bangor University OTC as in KK. Got my doubts though. Any knowledgeable comment would be appreciated. Front only for pic will scan back when got more time. Back has two loops and has moving wheel.

Is this not a standard RA Territorial badge? Although the colour seems a little strange? Is it brass or tarnished wm? If wm then it's a RA Volunteers badge?

Thanks for responce Eddie, I got mixed up sorry. The badge is referenced in R. Cox's 1914 - 18 badges as Bangor Uni not KK sorry. It's uncleaned WM and as I said with a moving wheel. I would agree with you its certainly a Volunteers badge it was the moving wheel that threw me, could it be an officer's? Or was there a moving wheel variant of the standard Vols badge anyway? If so then Bangor Uni simply used the standard vols badge. Sorry about the mix up.

it could be Bangor Uni or a standard terriers badge as i do not beleive there is any differance between the two. The rotating wheel is probably the same as the standard RA badge in that it is an early pattern and is down to a manufacturers variation rather than a rank distinction.

Although the TF stopped wearing this badge in WW1, Bangor Univ OTC were still wearing this badge as late as 1938. Source EJ Martin's survey of that year.

I got this one via Keith Hook - slider and no separate wheel (although I doubt we can read too much into that unless we can find a sealed pattern that confirms the 'correct' style of fittings).

The sealed pattern would have a slider and a fixed wheel.

The badge in post 1 is likely to pre-date 1916 when the badges were sourced by the TF Associations, or be commercially bought, rather than an issued badge.

There is nothing to tie it directly to the OTC as it could equally be TF.
