Gentlemen
I almost acquired this photo but I managed to get my own photo of it, does anybody have the cap badge?
Kind regards Chay

Hi,

Possibly the 5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars) or the 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles ??? Sorry, I don't have either to post.

Cheers, Tim

Thanks Chipper!
This was the best photo, the rest were of camels and pyramids!
Kind regards Chay

Hey Chay,

just looking at the badge, crown on top and the voids, these two NZMR formations seem to me to be closest (looking at Geoff Oldham's book). The NZ guys should confirm or not when they see this later tonight, they are always helpful and ready with great info.

Cheers, Tim

Yes I’m interested to know, I did think it looked like a shoulder title underneath the cap badge being worn,
Kind regards Chay

Looks like a 6th Manawatu collar size badge, worn above a NZMR shoulder title. Two separate badges.

Cheers Iain.

Possibly Gallipoli period,as he is wearing a service dress cap,and early New Zealand made bandolier.Fresh off the transport to Egypt. I have seen many images of soldiers wearing two badges, however once into camp overseas, the informal use of badges would be sorted out by army authorities.
