ZAR Staats Arty in WM

1 Attachment(s)
Hi, recently had a lucky find, a large size Staats Arty badge in WM, 62 mm high approx. I have one in brass, also the smaller size badges of the same design in both brass and WM.
Can anyone tell me the significance of the two metals? There was a WM helmet plate (with wreath) in WM, also the star shape HP in brass. Why?
The only OVS badges I have seen were all in brass.
I don't have any reference books on these.
Thanks.

Hi

I posted these awhile back. There are a large variety of these badges. I suspect these larger badges are pouch badges?

Cannot imagine why it would not, it is a link to my album here on the Forum??

I tried it and it worked this morning, does anyone else have a problem with opening the link?

Brian

Brian,

Still no luck.
Do you have to "friend" me or something?

Hi Brian

I get the following error message when trying to access that link:

Is there another way to access the album?

My original question

As I am apparently doomed never to see the album, can anyone tell me why WM as well as brass badges were worn?

Brian Conyngham 28-11-14 04:10 PM

Guys

Sorry this is embarrasing, appologies I have been away for a few days. It is just the link to my badge album here on the BBF???? cannot understand why the rest of the members are unable to see it, how do you make it public?

Regards
Brian

Glad to have worked that out! I can go into all the albums so why was my one unavailable?

Simon how is it going?

Been very quite here, acquired very little myself.

Brian

Frank

This is the one from Owens book, when he sold off his collection I was very fortunate to acquire it! Was not cheap at the time, but what rare badge is not these days?

I have only seen one other and it was in a museum.

Regards
Brian
