Help to identify Artillery pouch badge
2 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have this artillery gun badge with UBIQUE scroll. It is the size of a pouch badge but all pouch badges I have seen dont have the scroll. Also there are two large looped lugs on the rear instead of the regular threaded bolts. Is this a pouch badge or possibly used elsewhere. Note: the top of the ramrod is missing. Thanks Steven |
Could it possibly be a band badge of sorts?
I wonder if the wheel hub at rear of badge is a threaded post. Both suggestions contenders for pouch use. GTB |
Thanks GTB,
The stub at the rear may have been a post or even the remains of a lug. It appears to be broken off. Steven |
It has the look of a Band Pouch badge: http://www.victorianwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11773

I have seen several in the UK, the last one was at C & T auctions recently.
They are quite large and I believe (but dont know) they are some sort of band/drummers pouch badge. regards |

Yes it was part of George English collection that did not sell and was returned to the family. I got it from them with a few other odd items that did not sell. Steven |
Thanks for pointing to the band connection. Would be interesting to find out whether one of the local South African Artillery units had a band and whether this badge was used by them.
