Life Guards OFF beret badge

Hi

Regarding the OFF beret badges, I am confused about the right confection

For example, regarding the Life Guards, find two types of embroidery

Which one would be good?

The only real difference between the two examples you show here is age.

I wouldn't say that if looking at the difference of material used

Sorry, I was perhaps too vague.
The pattern of both badges is identical.
The apparent tarnish in the bullion, and perhaps superior materials on badge B, (in my opinion) is attributable to either an older badge, or a superior badge - or indeed both.
Best,
Sean

In fact, my first pictures were not very precise, sorry.

model A is about 15 GBP (Hand & Lock) , model B is about 30 GBP (Snaith & Sons)

So, identical design but difference of work, right?

Yes, you are correct.
“You get what you pay for” which is proven here. The superior badge is more expensive. However both badges are acceptable for wear.

They don't look much different to me. Hard to know where such items are made these days. Is the quality of one manufacturer/retailer thought to be higher than the other in general? Regards, Paul.

Hi,

I'd go for the Hand & Locke one, nicer example lettering wise.

They are not beret badges, they are cap badges.

My mistake, I thought the "Garter" badges were only worn on the full dress caps. Pardonnez-moi Eric, je suis juste un vieux cretin. Je dois essayer plus fort.:D::D

Frank, do you know when the "Garter" badge was first worn on the beret?. It's a new one on me.
