Need a little help. 55th and 65th Regts?

Hey everyone. I have a few interesting badges. Hopefully someone has a bit more information on them. (Time frames etc).

First one is the 55th Regiment Irish Canadian Rangers. I have found a website placing it to be around 1915, but I haven't found much else on this badge. As well, according to the website I was reading, the 55th ICR provided men for the 199th Bn CEF, but also for "The regiment also provided men for the Montreal Home Guard, which was composed of men from local militia regiments, and was used to guard strategic installations". My question is, would they have worn a shoulder flash specific to the 55th ICR? Or to the MHG (As pictured below)

Next up is what I believe to be the 65th Regiment Carabiniers Mont Royal. From what I can gather, they preceded the Fusilers Mont Royal, but I can' find much else about them. Also (See attached badge) Any idea when this may have been worn in service? Not sure if it is a cap badge, or collar dog. measures 1 3/4"h x 1 1/4" wide. Any input would be great!

Cheers

Brad

What I have detected about the 65th.

1869: The Mount Royal Rifles
1869: 65th Battalion "Mount Royal Rifles"
1900: 65th Regiment "Mount Royal Rifles"
1902: 65h Regiment "Carabiniers Mont-Royal"
1920: Les Carabiniers Mont-Royal (1st Battalion (69th Battalion, CEF) in the Non Permanent Active Militia and 2nd Battalion (150th Battalion, CEF) in the Reserve)
1931: Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal (same battalions)
From then battalions disbanded and raised to need, but regimental designation unchanged until present.

Hi Brad, Check out the DHH Lineages. http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhh-.../index-eng.aspThey are good for organization and historical sketches of the units. Problem with them is you need to know which units perpetuate which. The 55 Irish became the Irish Canadian Rangers, but after 1920 they were only a paper entity until finally disbanded in 1936.

Re the MHG titles. They were not worn by the 55th Irish Canadian Rangers. There is no shoulder title in the record for the Irish.

Thanks Bill!

I either didn't see that website when digging around the Web, or I missed it completely! Many Thanks!

My info above is also based on the DHH lineages.

I am very sorry. I was by no means hinting that you should have (better) acknowledged my post. :o
I only wanted to explain that my answer had the same source (it all happening long before I started life, I have to quote from what I have found on the internet and elsewhere) and to stress more or less the importance of the DHH pages for the Canadian lineage information (though they have errors as some on these forums have explained).

55th Regiment Irish Canadian Rangers

Hi Brad, Here's a link to a great website run by a member of this forum (Irishhorse) although there's not a lot about this Regiment. https://sites.google.com/site/irishr...rish-regiments regards John

Thanks for the link cavalryman. I didn't know Irishhorse had put that up.
