Canadian UNTAC Cambodia badge

Here is a nice badge to the UNTAC United Nations Transitional Authority Cambodia (UNTAC).
A total of about 700 Canadian Armed Forces members served with UNTAC between February 1992 and September 1993 (Veterans Affairs Canada). http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/rememb...orces/Cambodia Does anyone know if the letters GBM stamped on the back are the manufacturer? Someone's initials? Is this a pocket badge or another type of badge? Mike |

Any comments folks? |
Hello Mike, My feelings are that this was a Cambodian maker's mark. The badges are somewhat crude which leads me to believe they were made in theater.
I have 2 similar for the French contingent. The reverse showing the same markings. Difference is they have more colored enameling in the panels to the front. If you would like I will post some of these badges to this thread. Jack |
Mike do you have any evidence this was worn by the Canadian contingents? I have nothing to document that badge.

From a group of badges "French" relating to the UNTAC mission. As can be seen the same badge as in the OP with French colors in the lower panels.
