Canadian KC mystery badge

I have had this for several years, but do not know what it is.
Dimensions are: 1 3/8" wide 1 5/8" high

I collect Canadian artillery badges and northern Saskatchewan army unit badges, and this one does not appear to fit in either of those categories.

Hi, the badge in question is one of the many variations of the general list badge. The finish appears to be fire gilt, likely for an officer.

Thanks Bill

Thank you for your very prompt and welcome answer. Stu

I have has a similar badge in my collection recently. In Chris Brooker's Badges of the Canadian Army 1920 - unification, Volume 2, Page 5, he describes and has several illustrations of this exact badge as being worn by the British Columbia Woman's Service Corps (BCWSC). The badge I had previously also had the number 35 above the beaver, perhaps denoting a sub-unit. This volunteer unit was organized just prior to WW2 and many members transferred to the Canadian Women's Army Corps when it was authorised in 1941.

Pre-CWAC?

Thanks for the reply and the Brooker reference. Several years ago another collector suggested that it might be a volunteer organization.

Does anyone have the LAC file references for CWAC organization documents, WDs, etc? The answer might be found in the initial docs related to the establishment orders for the CWAC. I know that this is a slim possibility, but I will be at LAC in October with my camera doing some other research.

Hello Stu, there is no discussion of that type of badge in the archive docs for the CWAC.

I should add that I have that badge in plain brass finish, stamped. It was attributed to a recruit in early SWW.
