a/a King's Liverpool cap badge

Hopefully King's Liverpool and not Liverpool Uni OTC.
Comments welcome. Tony. |

Actually both. But yes it is the one worn by the TA Bns and the OTC in the 1960s. Alan |
Tony,
I have a theory, which is still to be confirmed or otherwise, that this badge was also worn by Liverpool Institute CCF Peter |
Still a very pleasing example.

It is the earlier version with the seeded scroll and also earlier (for A/A badges) Gaunt mark so no harm in saying it is King's Liverpool. Regards, Chris |
Thanks everyone.
Cheers Tony. |
That make an already nice badge, even nicer!

Not quite 'King's Liverpool'. The regiment disappeared in 1958 when amalgamated with the Manchesters. The AA version of the 1950 size badge was still not officially available in 1959 - in fact he first documented use (CCN) was in 1963 for the 5th TA Bn - which survived up to 1967.
The LUOTC almost certainly wore it from then too - but they had a new Pattern designation in 1971 when it appeared without stippling / seeding. |
Thanks for clearing that one up for me Julian.
Cheers Tony. |
