Recent finds from a local insignia show.
Traveled to Kansas City this past weekend to attend our yearly ASMIC convention and show. Was fortunate and able to look over a small older cloth collection. Picked out some nice pieces. A few non British items mixed in. Several signs I have been unable to put an Id to. The piece below the yellow and green Border title and above it slightly to the left.
The white sign with the horn may be Belgian. Thanks Jack http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...psyo0eilwa.jpg |
The black horn on white shield is a good match for the coat of arms of Basel-Stadt (city), so could it be Swiss?

Hi jack
Really nice selection. Well done. I especially like your 27th. Bc |
Above the BORDER title and red/blue sign (shown inverted - it should look like an M) is 110 Fd Regt RA. Below the title BORDER - with Eagle - is 646 LAA Regt RA(TA). They are John Waring, Pamphlet 1, 575 and 620 respectively. Mike

Thank you Mike for the Id's
Graham will investigate the Swiss lead. Thanks BC, is the triangular patch in lower right Aussie? It looks almost to be Aviation Best Jack |
Jack,
The triangular patch is I believe a modern Air Training Corps patch - Australian as you have suggested. Keith |
The facing pair of EonF 88 AGRA (TA) are very nice. Mike

There is also a woven XVth Corps formation sign. (3 interlocked black Vs on a red background).

Thanks to everyone for help in the ID's. The blue on red SS is an unknown to me. Cannot tell if it is a cutoff from a larger title or a stand alone piece.

I have a Canadian RCE badge in identical colours and material. There may. or may not, be a connection.

The SS has not been cut down but it remains a longstanding mystery.
It is usually attributed to Special Service Sections of the Royal Engineers (hence the colours) who were allegedly deployed with the Commandos but no-one has ever come up with firm proof of this. Jon |
The coloured BORDER designation is a post 1955 version, and possibly a reproduction.

Thank you Jon for that input. Would be nice to find positive proof of that usage.

Some additional finds from the ASMIC show. The LFA sign was identified properly and had a price to match. Would the Burma title be for RAF usage???
I can never remember the order for Royal Marines or Royal Marine in the commando title, one indicating WW2 and the other post, or at least in my mind. Thanks again Jack http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...psgjjtzeb8.jpg |
And lastly some lanyards. Am starting to get a pile of these and need to figure out what to do with them. Not very easy to display.
