I came upon this in John Bodsworth's Service Dress book and thought it worth sharing.

WEARING OF ROYAL TANK CORPS HEAD-DRESS (Beret)
1. Fitting of badge.
(a) To fit the badge find the centre line of the Cap by folding it with the ribbon bow as the rear point.
(b) From the centre point in the front of the cap measure 1 ½ inches along the leather rim on the left side of the cap.
(c) From this point draw an imaginary line upwards at right angles to the rim of the cap. This line will be the centre line of the cap badge.
(d) The distance from the upper edge of the leather rim along the vertical line to an imaginary line joining the bottom points of the badge should be ¼ inch.
2. Wearing the Beret.
(a) The cap will be worn so that the leather rim runs horizontally completely around the head just above the ears and about ½ inch above the eyebrows.
(b) The loose top of the cap will be pulled over towards the right ear, the lowest portion of the overlap reaching half-way down the right ear. The portion of the Cap on the left side of the head should be quite smooth and should follow the contour of the head.
(c) The badge should have an appropriate sized piece of stiffening material inside the cap to serve the dual role of preventing the badge sagging and also hurting the head.
(d)A considerable number of badges have been manufactured with the Tank pointing to the rear [i.e. retreating!].. These badges must be taken into use until the supply is exhausted. All future issues will have the Tank pointing to the front.
(e) The ribbon bow at the rear of the cap should be cut short so that the bow lies flat.

So it's NOT:

Wear cap badge in middle of forehead. If desired a small ridge can then be pulled up and forward of the badge
Pull down both sides equally each side. If desired the sides can also be pulled slightly forward to meet the ridge over the top of he badge, creating a 'cave' effect.

If challenged by authority say it's
A) RTR Tradition
B) To enable wear of tank radio headsets
C) Both A) and B) above?

Not in 1925 it wasn't.

Known as a "DA" back in the 70's as the back tended to stick up like a ducks rear end, also known as a "double tw*t" refering to its symmetrical folds.
At least, known by those names by those of us in units that didn't/couldn't/wouldn't wear the style.
