Could a resident expert please comment on the authenticity (or not) of this pair of wings? They came out of an estate clearance in England about ten years ago. Many thanks. Mike

Hi Mike, no resident experts on here tonight but for what its worth heres my tupence worth.

Well it Looks OK, and trimming was common, though it should really be on a dark green melton background. which was worn between 1943 and 1968.

There is evidence of a Black variety*, I would say it was OK but you may find a reluctance to move it on as its not green.

I'd try a black light on it to see if its an older version.

*If it is indeed Black and its not just a dodgy photo.

Actually, there are many known original WW2 examples of wings with both black and dark green background material. I would recommend checking out "Into the Maelstrom" for more information.
