Some cloth finds.
From this years SOS. Some interesting titles. 3 being bullion and likely from the post war, Korean war era. The Indian titles may well be post independence.
The red V I believe is the Northumberland Fusiliers. Blue flamed trench mortar. The red flamed with wreath I am unsure, have not found a reference too it yet. thanks Jack http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxndd9jqd.jpg |
Jack,
Can you please show the rear of the two grenade badges, the red and blue ones. thanks |
|
Thanks,
Firstly the blue one is a Trench Mortar Gunner. Usually all blue rather than just blue flames. The second is very unusual. It is clearly representing an Infantry Bomber, BUT, most unusually it has a wreath around it like most British/Commonwealth trade badges, which is unofficial and I have not seen before. Also it is all red rather than just red flames (the opposite of the TMG badge above) You also have an inter war/WW2 Bullion rank badge of a Warrant Officer Class 1 (RSM usually) and a crossed rifles surmounted by a crown prize badge or Sgt Instructors badge (worn over his chevrons) Nice badges which I would love to own. I am quite envious. PM me if you wish to part with any or all of the 4. regards |
Thank you Simon for that information. the red flamed bomb jumped out at me from the pile of signs I was sifting through.
Here is another I took a chance on. It is my understanding this badge has been reproduced. Blue tank vs Black Tank??. Would anyone venture a guess as to period made or later on this piece? thanks Jack http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...psqcqbongm.jpg http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps5uw1p4wp.jpg |
The Bomber Badge is the later all red version as Simon said very unusual and unofficial in the wreath. The TM badge might be a variant based on the Bombers badge (or possibly an officer version???). I am sure Grumpy will weigh in once he spots this thread.

I have just realised that the Grenade in wreath badge was worn by early NZ Engineer Units upto c. 1910 as a Field Engineering proficiency badge.
Mine is in all red on a blue background, presumably for undress uniform, but perhaps they also had a SD version which yours may be. This may be one of those |
Great help fellas. The possible NZ link is interesting. There were no other NZ pieces in the group these came from, but never say never. Did anyone have a thought on the AT badge??
You guys are the best Jack |
