6th Armoured Division Slip on epaulette signs
 

Two airtex slip on epaulettes with 6th Armoured Division signs. As long as I know, the badges where the inner part of the Mailed Fist is worsted in dark brown, rather than black thread, were produced in Italy. Could anybody confirm?

and another question: did the Mailed Fist signs come in facing pairs or were only facing left like in this case?

With one exception - a Guardsman in 3 WG, 1 Gds Inf Bde, 6 Armd Div in Tunisia - the fist always faced to the left. "Take that man's name Drill Sergeant. Idle formation sign!" Mike

how did he manage? the reverse of the badge usually is not as defined as the front... Mike, could you confirm from the height of your knowledge that the signs where the inside of the clenched fist is worsted with brown thread were theatre made in Italy?

Wartime they both faced the same direction, when the design was reused post war I believe they came in facing pairs.

I think he's just rotated the badge, still showing the front.

The Guardsman rotated the sign 90 degrees clockwise to achieve the effect shown. As far as "theatre-made" is concerned all things were possible - but I don't have an example which by provenance was made in Italy and all seven in my collection are simply black and white. Mike.
