Seaforth Highlanders WW1 Cap Badge opinions please???
 

Hi all
Can anyone tell me if this Seaforth Highlanders Cap Badge is a WW1 issue please???
It has 3 lugs but l have also seen them with 2 lugs.

Nice badge the only thing I can see different is all my lugs are positioned the same way, your bottom lug is a different position.
But that would depend on who was braising them I suppose.

I didn't notice that Paul, but probably a choice of the maker at that point like you say. Somebody might come in and give your more insight later on the 3 lugs etc, maybe period of use.

It has 3 lugs, positioned as Paul's.
I've been told it's consistent with the WW1-era.

Yeah, I framed mine in the Scot's Great War set. As older badges were carried over by regulars in long service. I framed it as it was a nice strike and with the dark lugs, it was legit to at least pre war, and not some mid war strike. Made me feel better.......:D

I have a gut feeling about mine its the eyes and shape of the ears compared to yours and Simons look different 1 ear touches the side of the badge there not central

See what I mean although the definition of the stamping is really good and it has the copper braising I just don't know.

I've seen variants where the left ear is touching, and where the right ear is touching the side of the badge, i.e. uncentered. I have no reason to believe these are anything other than genuine, as the sources are good. As with other badge patterns, variants exist. Yours has a good crisp strike, good lugs and good braising. I would be perfectly happy with it.
There are other more familiar with this badge, so hopefully they'll chime in if there's an issue with it, but until then I'd be happy with it :)

The more I look at it the more I am convinced it is a good one, its strong and has all the correct points you have said.
What was putting me off was I have not seen anymore off set stampings but now you have said you have that has put my mind at ease.
