Royal Australian Engineers badges

I have bought a French collector of World engineers badges a lot from Australia.

The patches seem to be from 22nd Construction Regiment and School of Military Engineering. But the great badge with kangaroo is an enigma. Thank you

Hello,
The kangaroo patch is not a badge. It is based on the 'christmas tree' unit marking painted (actually stencilled) on vehicles, personal baggage, etc, to identify kit belonging to a specific unit during overseas deployments. Each unit has a specific number allocated on the ORBAT and the colours distinguish each number. I'm sorry but I don't know what unit is represented by this number or why it would be made as a patch.

The 'Christmas tree' is a patch to sew on the vinyl 'dive' bags (which replace the canvas echelon bags) as vinyl is difficult to paint.

Oz.
