I think that these are all lovely. Not my area of knowledge at all but looking at the Sphinx tablets; they appear to be non-existent or blank. Is this normal?

rmarsden 11-09-16 02:21 PM

Pixie, the battle honour Egypt does not appear on any BW glengarry badges. However it is present on some badges on dirk belt plates.
Cant explain why? All officers bonnet badges have Egypt on their Sphinxes except for the odd VB. Below an example from the 1860s.

There is something that is really pleasing about this Regiment's badges, love the dirk belt plate as well. Really strange about the lack of battle honour. I thought it may have been linked to a territorial association but in this case I guess not.

Many thanks,

Rachael

Officers 2 part blackened brass/bronze balmoral badge.
Worn by Territorial Bn officers in 1914. Blades on the reverse have been curled round to create loops.
Ex Arthur Strutt.

Another typical WW1 pattern this time die-struck with Andersons name plate. Again details polished.

A high quality officers silver plate and gilt glengarry by Gaunt with their nameplate to the reverse. I would say this was mid 1930s, all parts die-struck with the motto fully readable from the back. Gilt has migrated onto the plate.
