Help with RWAAF plastic badge
I have just received a RWAAF plastic badge which measures 32mm deep x 25mm wide with blades N-S.
Is this a cap badge or a collar badge? Help appreciated. Rob |
Hi,
I’m unsure of what you mean by RWAAF, but there is a Royal West African Frontier Force headdress badge that almost fits your description, but without a photograph it’s difficult to say. Regards, Zob. |
RWAAF
Zob, my apologies, yes, it's Royal West African Frontier Force.

Rob, I have a metal RWAFF collar badge which measures 28mm deep X 25mm wide, so yours could also be a collar badge, even with blades. . Jo |
RWAFF plastic badge
Rob,
There was only one size made in plastic and it was intended to be worn as a cap badge as well as a collar badge. In 1995 Marcus Cotton wrote two excellent articles for the English language edition of 'Militaria' magazine. The were in No10 and No 12. He refers to this and also states that the stated manufacture run was just over 150,000 between 1942 and 1946. Regards fred |

Thanks for your input on this, I was not sure whether cap and collar were the same size and Fred has confirmed that.
