PPCLI Sweetheart

I picked this up the other day, a few small chips in the enamel, but for the price I couldn't pass it up. The vendor thought the "daisy" was pretty.

Nice sweetheart Bruce. Any maker marks on the reverse?

RCAF_Mike 27-08-15 12:14 AM

Very beautiful

Very nice, can I ask what you paid?

It's hallmarked and maker marked, but they are too small to read without a magnifying glass. I will shoot some photos and post them.

Birmingham hallmark for 1917.

The RS is the maker mark. Somewhere I have bookmarked a website with silversmiths marks..

PPCLI Sweetheart Gilt Version

Here is a slightly different version of the PPCLI sweetheart. The silver has been gilded but the badge is otherwise similar to ddaydodger's. In both cases the makers mark is R.C. for Robert Chandler, a Birmingham jeweller. Mine is hallmarked "r" for 1916.

Cheers, Ian.

Both are very nice badges

Has anyone had any luck in repairing broken enamel

redman 01-09-15 06:26 PM

I have had some sweethearts repaired with what was called cold enamel by a badge repairer in UK. Made a very nice job of it and from memory it was not difficult.
