Fort Garry Horse Helmet Plate?

2 Attachment(s)
I recently acquired some FGH items and along with the 50s Caps and collars there was this...what I am presuming is a Helmet plate but I can find no reference data on it.

The plate itself is thin copper, not heavy cast. but the lugs seem proper.

Has anyone seen these before?

There must be someone who has seen these before. Can't believe I would have a "one of" :D

Tanker Mike??

Looks like a Fort Garry Horse device attached to one of those generic police helmet plates.

What are the dimensions?
Iirc, there was some sort of ceremonial troop for the Ft Garry's when they were a regular force regiment? If so, this may have been a badge for that purpose.

Interesting piece, I have never seen a helmet plate for the FGH. The way the FGH badge attaches to the maple leaf is also unusual.
It may have been some type of badge for the ceremonial troop, maybe for a Royal tour?

Upon disassembly, I may be leaning to Phillip's answer. The plate is about 3 1/2" x 3" and once I removed the FGH center, the holes seem slightly off center. This could be a do-it-yourself creation.
