Machine Gun Corps, Motors
Hello
The MGC Motors badge, crossed MG's with WM MMG below, was this an official badge, or was it locally made? Also, was there an Officers version please. Thank you in advance 3dg |
It was an official badge and there was an OSD version

MMG were factory made and issued.
The RND MGC were locally made using RND s/ts an MGC cap badges. |

Brass MGC with M below maybe?

The badges are certainly out there to be found, but, so many completely spurious ones amongst them, it pays to be cautious and take some time examining them, before parting with any monies, good luck.

It is certainly something I have pondered down the years too, I would be of the opinion that MMG badges date from mid 1915, I have encountered good original badges with the MMG deliberately removed.
Whilst there are photographs of the badges and handsome titles being worn, they tend to be undated, which certainly does not help matters. I also think the founder members were actually drawn from the RA. Quote:
