An early Xmas pressy for myself.
Not my usual type of purchase but a very nice presentation Decanter for a Capt Nunn on promotion with the 3rd Royal Lancashire Militia. 1873.

That really is a cracking piece indeed. I love stuff like this, unusual and full of history.

If it were mine I would certainly fill it with some nice Scotch. The rich colour might even bring out the etching a little too.

If you just wanted to bring out the colour and engraving, you could use the old theatrical standby - cold tea. But that would be a terrible waste. What a beautiful object, well done.
