Hi all,
This is the first cap badge I acquired a few months ago. Can anyone help me to date it? Thanks in advance, Marco Attachment 176568 Attachment 176569 |
Hello Marco 01fr, welcome to the Forum. Your account is active and open for posts.
The badge is the 1939 ptn badge and is still in wear today. From your images it looks like an earlier pattern eg Second WW through the 50's. The badge appears to be plated? |
Oh that's great news! Yes, it looks like it's plated. The front is much brighter than the rear.
Thanks Bill |
Bill, what do you mean by "ptn badge" ?
|
ho.. "pattern" perhaps ?
|
Yes. There was an earlier badge without the South Africa battle honours underneath the coronet.
|
Ah OK. Thanks for this info.

Here is an early Militia pre WW1 period DCOR cap badge, nicely marked, Hicks & Sons.

The single scroll BCR badge is pre 1936 and they are scarce. Mike, nice example of C.1905 DCOR Rifles badge!
|
The single honour badges are scarce, and were authorized by GO 113 / 1930. They were worn until the two banner badges were authorized by GO 58 / 1939. Photo evidence suggests the officer's pattern 1930 badge was worn by some during the war.
|
Of note, the current BCR Officers wear a copy of the 1930 pattern single scroll in sterling silver.
