Sharing - Mid 1800's 4th RIDG & 6ID Undress Sabretaches
2 Attachment(s)
Sharing moment - after driving back from Portsmouth yesterday morning via the M25 etc etc - and it was the same in France and Belgium.
I picked this up at last from my daughters. The 4RIDG one is a fairly old undress sabretache with its badge. The only difference I can see from the others that I have is that this one has a wire fixing on each of the 8 rays that has been pushed through and bent over - and no, I won't be removing it for a picture of the back. Described as a senior NCO's version circa 1820-50 The 6ID one has the SBP/CBP type securing nuts with the small protective 'clip' - circa 1860-1901. These both came from the Alan Barauskas Cavalry Collection sale. If anyone wants a close up let me know. |
It is always a pleasure to view your albums. These two items quite simply add to that pleasure. I'm glad you arrived home safely. I left Leicester at 9.00am and arrived home at 4.00pm having failed to get any closer to Windsor tham Stokenchurch.

You dont have to be a Cavalry collector to appreciate the quality and workmanship in items like these- superb.
