V device worn with collar badge
 

Sometime ago a member of the Forum asked if the the "V" device for volunteer(s) was ever worn with collar badges,instead of the usual "T" for territorial(s) well, here's one.

Worn c.1918 by the volunteer bns that superseded the VTCs. Not to be confused with the pre 1908 Vol Bns.

In October of 1916, the War Office announced the badges of rank, cap badges and shoulder titles to be worn by the Volunteer Force, who were at that time still clothed in their VTC uniforms and insignia. Officers and other ranks were now to wear the same badges of rank as those worn by the Regular Army. All ranks were to wear the Royal Arms as their cap badge (as per your pic), with officers having the letter 'V' in place of (but frequently in conjunction with) collar badges. Other ranks were to wear cloth shoulder titles which slipped onto their shoulder straps.
