Hi Chay,
This is a cap badge. Collars were the flaming grenade.

Hello everybody,
1st) Happy new year for all of you.
2nd) I like New zealand cap badges.
I have another engineers cap badges, from "tunnellers company" which measure 4.5cm high and about 3cm wide.
These men have finished tunnels under Arras for the "bataille d'Arras" in april 1917.....
Sorry my picture is upside down.....
Excuse my poor english

I am not expert enough. These "tunnelers" arrived in North of France in 1916, There were also Maori in these companies
I have another cap badge.

Yes I can imagine the pioneers were also tasked with that outlandish warfare style as were miners from Yorkshire!
