Royal Australian Engineers badges
1 Attachment(s)
I have bought a French collector of World engineers badges a lot from Australia.
The patches seem to be from 22nd Construction Regiment and School of Military Engineering. But the great badge with kangaroo is an enigma. Thank you |
Hello,
The kangaroo patch is not a badge. It is based on the 'christmas tree' unit marking painted (actually stencilled) on vehicles, personal baggage, etc, to identify kit belonging to a specific unit during overseas deployments. Each unit has a specific number allocated on the ORBAT and the colours distinguish each number. I'm sorry but I don't know what unit is represented by this number or why it would be made as a patch. Indeed, I have a staybrite shoulder title with RAE.

The 'Christmas tree' is a patch to sew on the vinyl 'dive' bags (which replace the canvas echelon bags) as vinyl is difficult to paint.
