Thanks to E bay- British Army Badges

I know we moan about E bay on a regular basis but courier has just delivered a copy of Robin Hodges book "British Army Badges " which I won for a total of £34 inclusive of p and p.

It is a book I have been meaning to acquire for some time but have been reluctant to buy a new copy as my collecting interest is earlier than the dates of most of the insignia shown.

Whilst so far I have only had a flick through the book, the illustration seem excellent and the condition of the copy , which the seller described as almost mint, is as described.

A great reference book and when I looked at what copies are selling for on Abebooks, I nearly fell off my chair.

P.B.

Peter,
Well done. Copies are still available from the author at £42.50 post free!

Thanks Tim,

I wonder if the booksellers on Abebooks selling copies at £100 plus up to £282 know ?

The more I look at the book the more I see what a great reference book it is.

£42.50 post free is cheaper than when it was first published. Then it was £65.

Yep - I did the £42.50 acquisition a couple of months ago.

I nearly bid against you, unknowingly. I decided not to bid as I was not sure if I already had the book.

Well done, a nice buy.

This is a superb book, the illustrations excellent and covering every unit of the (then) modern era. Necessarily each Regiment & Unit gets a succinct write up but that still turns it into a 'monster' of a book.

I was serving when his letter turned up seeking information and I remember thinking what a labour of love to complete - I was delighted to see it hit the bookshelves.

I'm more interested in the earlier years but still take a huge delight skimming through this every so often. Well worth the asking price from the author.

a fine reference book but NOT definitive. 70+ minor errors & ambiguious descriptions at the last count.

the author did mention an update, anyone have knowledge of that?

when someone mentions errors in published books, one is inclined to ask how they managed to avoid errors occurring in their own published works ?
