South Lancs slip on help please
 

HI good evening , can any one place this please / I thought it s Far east WW2 but a mate thinks its post war para ta ?????

A very nice item, I dont know the answer to the question but the 13th Para Bn had its origins in the 2/4 South Lancs Regt.

The books I have do not make it clear if the 2/4 South Lancs were a Parachute battalion but if they were ,could this be from that battalion ?

In my view unlikely to be post-War (13 Para (TA) was subtitled Lancashire, not South Lancashire), but the original WW2 13 Para was formed by the conversion of 2/4 South Lancs. But the slip on could have been worn by any battalion of the South Lancs who were flexible in their adherence to dress regulations - particularly in India and/or the Far East.

In 1942, he joined the South Lancashire Regiment (PWV) 2/4 Battalion, which in 1943 became the 13th (Lancashire) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (AAC).

Many thanks so far gents , would be nice from my point of view if the Airborne conection was correct , but before I get too excited is this red /marroon colour a traditional colour of the South Lancs there is a pair of them and they came with a small box of badges but none of the other items really link in

The South Lancs battalion flashes most frequently encountered are maroon/yellow/dark blue in a rectangular, diamond and, possibly, square format. Also worn by 61 SL Regt (formed from 5 South Lancs)
