I dont think you can tell the difference between WW1 and WW2 made badges unless you got a slouch hat from WW1 as original from family as per my examples, first Australian made slouch hat with original badge 2nd a British made slouch hat with original badge both these hats came from family direct and i have no reason to think these have been fiddled with. Can you show a better picture of the hat and the plumes are not WW1 period .

Can you show the back? Is there a makers mark? For example, if it was marked Luke it would be WW2. Is it brass or copper? Does it have lugs or is it a slider?

But I am far from being any sort of an expert.

No makers mark, typical stamped back with lugs, copper I believe.

Hi Mike

The best that I can do is that its post WW1 and probably a Militia period issue looking at the Emu plumes and obviously pre 1953.

The one thing about all the Rising Sun hat badges is that each manufacturer had different shaped voids above the scroll ends. Collars are solid and don't have the voids.

Regards

Phil.
