RCS beret with cloth badge

I have this beret with a special cloth cap badge. I have read on the internet that this badge was made by Toye, Kenning & Spencer Ltd and experimented in
Royal Military Academy Signal Section at Sandhurst for evaluation ; it was finally rejected by the Royal Artillery Dress committee in 1977. Could you confirm ?

RCS Cloth Cap badge

I recall these coming out briefly, worn by recruits, i remember them being smaller (or maybe just the angle of photo), would have been 1980 for around 3 months, instantly disliked and binned. Regards Mark
