Hi Guy's,

Just incase anyone was going to bid on this (IMHO) it's not right.

Irv, can I point you to this other current thread- interested to see a similar badge posted; Charlie

Are both the badge and the compass spurious?

To me the compass looked good so I assumed it was the badge? Those compasses were available in reasonably large numbers for aircrew to hide where they liked.

The badge is wrong so I wouldn't entertain the compass but if you say the compass is right I will go by your better knowledge.

Just had a look at the other thread and that badge isn't right either (IMO). Unless you had cast iron provenance from the Marine who wore it in the war. In which case I'd like to see it:)

RAF Escape Compass

This little tin once contained 29 escape compasses. I sold 26 of them some years ago and there are now 3 left, two with cracked glass! I believe these were the "RAF" type and were included in escape/survival packs.

Just to put things straight, I have no opinion on the compass, it probably is right, but the badge isn't (IMO) so it must be a put together. (IMO):)

What in particular makes the badge spurious?

Irv 24-04-17 07:52 AM

Check out the pictures I've posted on the other thread and compare them to the other two badges. Like I said, it's all about the detail, the stamping, lions tail, back of the globe.......Very obvious when you compare them.:) (IMO)

Good gracious me, yes, I see what you mean!
I will look at every KC RM badge I encounter from now on!
