I have posted this in the 'mystery' section ... but so far no response so wondered if any of you in this specialist section may be able to ID this for me .

Could be Natal Carbineers, the colour artist appears to have superimposed the word Natal over Carbineers?

I think he just means no 100% positive id as yet...

It is completely spurious and merely the work of the artist in my opinion.
He/she has painted the title and then painted another over it.

That is quite possible, perhaps the guy wanted to be shown as part of the Natal contingent of 2 SAI.

It's not perhaps meant to be GRENADIER GUARDS with some of the letters missing/blurred? Shoulder arc on that pattern tunic would tend to be be out of place unless it was one of the Guards Regts.

The only SA troops that wore that pattern tunic were the Imperial Service units in Europe and the Middle East and none of them (as far as I'm aware) wore cloth shoulder arcs.

In that case you would certainly expect to see the regiments collar badges and shoulder titles.
