Dear Friends

Can any member of the Forum please help me.

I am desperately trying to get hold of a QEII Gurkha Signals Cross Belt badge.

I believe I may have found a small error on my little web site and need a Cross Belt Badge to update the site and rectify the error.

Happy to pay what the asking price may be and the p and p.

Badge I am after is displayed below.

Any assistance with this request would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris Walker

Thanks Michael.

Much appreciated.

I have to do another Cross Belt as I have very recently found out that the Plaid Brooch I display for the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Signals and the QEII Gurkha Pipes and Drums are not the same Plaid brooch.

Long story but after just over 50 years I have been in touch with the Junior Pipe Major that I played with in 1965. He kept his Plaid Brooch when he went into Man Service and it is not the same as the Gurkha Signals Plaid Brooch that I currently show.

I may be lucky enough some time in February to get hold of the JLR Plaid Brooch and hence have to change the site for the Gurkha Signals Pipe Band.

This means I need a new Gurkha Signals Cross Belt with the Cross Belt Badge as requested to change the site a little.

Nice problem to have really but it depends on whether I get the 1965 Plaid Brooch.

The two different Clan Grant Plaid Brooches are shown below. First is the Gurkha Plaid Brooch second is the JLR Plaid Brooch. Both Clan Grant but different.

I appreciate your help Mike.

Kind regards

Chris

Gurkha Signals Crossbelt badge

Hi Chris, I think I have one in silver and one in gold and I think I have a cross belt with another silver one. If Expat Yeoman can’t help I will be home on the weekend of 10th February so email me then if you have had no luck. I will check my collection and if I do indeed have two silver versions I will send you one.

Gurkha Cross Belt Plate

Hi Chris,
While I don't have this cross belt plate any more I do have a couple of photos of it which may be of interest. I purchased the belt in the late 1980s from the Gurkha Sqn in Hong Kong. The second photo shows the Despatch Box worn on the back with the badge.

Nice pictures Quicksilver, thanks for showing them, they would be nice to own, especially with the whistle and chains.

Regards Phil.

Dear Friends.

Since I started this Thread back in January I have been most fortunate.

The Junior Pipe Major from the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Corps of Signals has indeed come up trumps and sent me the Plaid Brooch that he has kept ever since he joined man service back in 1965.

His name is David "Ginge" Beresford and he was the Pipe Major from April 65 to August 65. He actually kept his Plaid Brooch and I am delighted to say he has sent the brooch on to me to put on my little web site.

The receipt of this badge has actually done three things. It has confirmed that the Plaid Brooch was used by three different Regiment in it's time.

1. Queens Gurkha Signals Pipe Band post 1952.
2. Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Corps of Signals 1960 to 1967
3. The Army Apprentice College, Harrogate 1966 to early 1970's.

I have attaced three photos below to show the three units involved. The first one is in black and white and not the best of quality but show the brooch very clearly. This was taken in 1958.
Second is a photo is of the JLR Pipe Band who performed in the 1967 Dosbandment Parade at JLR Denbury.
The third photo is of A/T Pipe Major John McKay of the Army Apprentice College, Harrogate who is wearing the Black Watch Tartan. This photo was taken in 1968.

I have added the brooch that David sent me which I have cleaned up for display on my little web site some time in the future but nice to see the actual silver gilt brooch.

I have also added three sets of the brooch with the Pipers Accoutrements for all three Regiments with their respective Tartans.

Hope you enjoy the photos and thanks to David for helping me end a very long quest for this badge.

Best wishes
