Volunteer Glengarry

I bought this interesting hat at Great Malvern Military convention on Sunday.

I'm wondering if it can be attributed to a particular volunteer unit, or if perhaps it was a generic design available to many Volunteer Units around Great Britain?

Please be aware I may sell this item if I can't convince myself if could have been worn by a Devonshire unit.

Rob,

Sounds like there were quite a few members at Malvern yesterday, as well as me and the member who went down with me ,we bumped into another member I know from off the Forum.

I don't think you are going to be able to attribute a bugle horn like that to a particular unit, as it was, as you thought, a generic design used by a number of units , picture of a similar badge which I bought within the last couple of weeks attached .

It is not to say that this design of badge was not worn by the Devonshire Rifle volunteers in their early days.

As a matter of interest is there any sign of any other badge ever being worn on the glengarry ?

Peter

Hi Peter

There are no other holes where a different sized badge could have been, so probably not.

Rob
