Marine/Marine Commando para wings

Embroidered into a black base material and nicely padded. The padding in the wing looks almost to be a horse hair or something equally as coarse.

Came as part of a recent Marine Commando group of insignia. Looks to be late WW2 or post war. Would be interested to hear others thoughts

Thanks
Jack

Jack, whilst I could not state 100% that it is WWII, it looks correct and is a very fine example imo

Thanks Jon, I had not seen your example. There was one other para wing in the group that I will post. Different from this example but on a black backing material also.

Jack, I’ll just agree with my friends above — two very nice wings, with the right materials and construction I’d typically look for in WW2-era wings. I’d say you have two keepers.

Best Regards,
Donovan

Thanks Mike,

From the same group as other wings. A smaller version in wire. I assume for mess dress, measures 65 mm across.

From this same group of Marine and Commando insignia. A larger dress pattern para wing. Have also shown the mess dress wing to give some comparison to size. Difficult to determine era of use, for me at least. Would be interested to hear others thoughts on period of usage.

Thanks
Jack
