14/20th Kings Hussars type badge

1 Attachment(s)
Any ideas on what this 14/20th Kings Hussars type badge is.

It's Silver A/A with lugs East/West.35mm tall.

Like 14/20th Kings Hussars cap badge but facing other way
and as they use a different patter collar badge it can be one of those.

Could it be a their pouch badge of something to do with the Gurkhas?

Any help appreciated
Gordon

I have exactly the same badge. Have also seen the same in Gold Anodised in someone else's collection. Am pretty sure there was also a pic of one in black and gold anodised on Hagwalther's "Cavalry" gallery, with a credit to 'A Owen' but think the galleries may have been closed now.

The one on Hagwathers web pages is on a slider as I would expect for a cap badge, this is on lugs.

Hello Gordon,

How's it going ? I hope this finds you well ?

The previously mentioned black and gold ( Officers' cap badge ) and the anodised gold ( soldiers beret ), both in my album, face the opposite way as you know and so does the Gurkha Officers' pouch badge, which is silver.

There are pairs of facing collars to the Band of The Hussars and Light Dragoons, described in my new modern badge bible ( British Army Badges ), by Lt. Colonel Robin Hodges as " gilt " collar badges, 3 x 3.5 cms ???

Coincidentally, I have the bands' cap badge and I can't find the correct collars, so it's a small world in that respect.........

I have to ask if the fact that they are silver anodised, could be attributed to a manufacturers error ?

That's all I can offer, sorry if it doesn't help !

All the best.

Dave.

PS Both my cap badges are on lugs ??

DC.

I also have this badge, but so far haven't identified it. It had crossed my mind that it might be an NCO's arm badge: perhaps for battledress?

Stephen.

It was a 6th Gurkha rifles arm badge, worn as the the 6th served with the 14/20th.This is why the 14th/20th wore the small crossed kukris badge on the upper arm.

In silver anodised I believe this to be an arm badge that was worn by the 6th Gurkha Rifles in some orders of dress. In a reciprocal arrangement the 14/20H (and carried forward to the KRH) wore small crossed kukris in silver anodised at the top of the jacket sleeve.

Thanks for all the help as usual. Having read British Army Badges by Lt. Colonel Robin Hodges I had come to the conclusion it must be either an
Arm badge to the 6 GR or a bandmembers collar to the 14/20 KH. He states that the KRH Band wear gilt collars in the same pattern as 14/20 anodised.
However I think they are gold, so probably 6GR Arm badge.

Once again thanks for all the input.
