CAF(N) Submariner badge

In 1971 a completely new design was approved for officers & men qualified in Submarines & was similar in design to that adopted for the CAF(Air) branch
Pilot, Navigator, Flight Engineer, etc badges; the double dolphins taking the place of the Air wings. It differed from the then current RN sub badge in the fact the design of the dolphins was different & the central Candian maple leaf was substituted for the naval AP anchor. The two examples I have shown are yellow thread embroidered --- the top example on the original green background; the lower example is embroidered on a black background for wear on the "new" 1984 pattern naval uniforms that reverted to the navy's original colour. This badge is also seen in that horrid mylar embroidery & in gold wire. It is also produced as an enamelled metal clutch pin back badge. Bryan |
