WD shoulder title

Hi

I have been informed that this may be a Women's Division shoulder title from the 1950s but cannot find a similar item. I only have the one.

Pity about the cut corner.:(

I don't think it is RCAF WD. A couple of views of RCAF females from the 1950s

Hi Blackadder

Yes, I failed to find any photographic evidence of it. Nice pics, thanks.:)

The plain CANADA and the arched over the albatross seems to be the WD pattern. I'm relating what I was told. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of it.

RCAF Correspondents and 1 Can Air Div was pitched too but no evidence.

Those are Air Cadet titles from the 1950’s - 1960’s

You will find pictures of them being worn on their own, or with the squadron title just underneath.
I cannot recall the exact date they came into use, but It would be around the same time as the RCAF was using the ones with the albatross underneath. They began phasing them out in 1962 with the introduction of the half moon format, a style which is still used to this date.

Great images. Some pretty scarce titles in the bottom pic.

I am a big Canadian air cadet collector, so I know the badges quite well.

I was lucky to come across that ‘16wing’ website, I would suggest flipping through the site as it has LOTS of great pictures to use as reference on the history of air cadet uniforms.

Though DO NOT use it as a substitute for proper uniform regulations… cadets back then, just as they are now, do not always have their uniforms 100% correct.

Hi Matt

Good to know. Yes, I have saved that site and will be going back to it. :)

Having worked at a Cadet Summer Camp recently, I can appreciate your comments on their adherence to regulation.
